Locked and Unidentifed
This piece was completed in my grade 9 art class where we were to use an image taken by us, then used the theory of what happened before or after the photo took place. I wanted to extend the pattern and lines of the fence, but due to how my abstracted mind processes, it turned into more of an after effect, where shattered glass and debris were the evidence.
My tools were fairly basic, and focusing on the texture and conceptualization rather than traditional technique or theory. I used a couple light washes as a top coat, where the foundation was some lower quality coloured pencils, everything in hues of green. The whole experience opened my eyes up to the experimentation of mixed media, and how my few focuses to the art field can be fused into one separate medium of its own.
I showed this in an arts fair last May, where it was noted for Honourable Mention in the 2D Mixed Media Sr. category.
